Kamen Rider Fourze: Review: Come On, Outer Space
Yo this episode is where Fourze really starts to click. Episode 1 was all the setup with Gentaro transferring to Amanogawa High and getting the Fourze belt, but episode 2 is where you actually feel what kind of show this is gonna be. Gentaro is just so extra with the whole “I want to be friends with everybody” thing, but it’s not corny, it actually makes you rock with him. My man will literally get punched and still put his hand out for a handshake.
What I really liked is how they build the crew. Kengo is still on that cold, serious, “don’t waste my tech” vibe, and Yuki is just pure space-nerd energy but in a good way. The dynamic is funny because Gentaro is running on pure heart while Kengo is running on pure logic. And we get to see the Rabbit Hutch and all the Switches a bit more, so you can tell the toy gimmick is there but they make it fun, not forced. The high school setting actually works here instead of feeling random.
The fight itself goes hard too. The Orion Zodiarts from last episode is back and Gentaro is still learning how to actually fight as Fourze, so he’s fumbling the switches, using the wrong modules at the wrong time. It’s clumsy but that’s what makes it entertaining. When he finally pulls it together with Rocket and Drill and hits that finisher, it feels earned. It’s not just another Rider being perfect from day one, he’s learning on the job and you can see it.
Overall, episode 2 does exactly what a second episode should do. It keeps the momentum from the premiere, makes you care about the Kamen Rider Club forming, and leaves you wanting to see who Gentaro is gonna try to befriend next. Fourze is just pure fun, it’s got that over-the-top, friendship-is-power energy but with enough heart that you don’t roll your eyes at it. Solid 8.5/10 for me, easy watch.
