Batman: Caped Crusader: Episode 1: Review
The pilot episode of Batman: Caped Crusader didn’t disappoint. Barbara and Jim Gordon were African-American, the Penguin was a woman, a top crime boss in Gotham and she had two sons who were eventually killed by her after she accused the first of betraying her to Rupert Thorne, a rival crime boss and everyone was on edge wondering if Batman was real, which he was. Speculation, speculation. But he is and he was a fighter.
At the end he said that the first mission of the closing night that he failed his mission but we all know he’s a legend, so failed he didn’t, and going forward. Criminals are running rampant and half of Gotham’s police are corrupt and on the payroll of crime bosses.
It’s a war and Penguin and Thorne spearheads it and Harvey Dent just wants to be mayor, something the usual Harvey Dent is not focused on primarily. He wants to clean up crime and corruption first and foremost.
