Super Space Sheriff Gavan Infinity: Recap: Gavans Assemble

The episode picks up right after the events of “Because of Love,” where Kiki lost her memories to become Gavan in Koto’s place. Now Aza Zorth’s cult moves into the final phase of their plan, triggering “negative pools of energy” and “demonic voids” across the multiverse. The anomalies cause chain-reaction anxiety to spread among people in multiple dimensions. With the scenario of “galactic collapse” looming, the Galaxy Federal Police realize a single Gavan can’t handle it.

To stop the cult, Reiji Doki, the red-colored Gavan Infinity, initiates a multiversal call. The response brings together the other Gavans who’ve appeared so far: Setsuna Aikokuin, the silver Gavan Bushido from MultiEarth Λ8018, plus additional versions of the Space Sheriff title from alternate “Cosmo Layers”. The episode’s title, “Gavans Assemble,” is literal: multiple Space Sheriffs gather across dimensions to form a united front.

The assembled Gavans split up to deal with Aza Zorth’s cult as it spreads the negative energy deposits. Gavan Infinity centers on Reiji Doki’s unique ability to transcend dimensions after his Yamimakuru Emorgy exposure, and that power is key to coordinating the team across the Cosmo Layers, overlapping multiverses that each contain “other Earths identical to the Earth we live on”. The episode emphasizes that this is the first time the show truly leans into its multiversal premise with multiple Gavans operating simultaneously.

True to PROJECT R.E.D.’s cinematic style, the episode balances large-scale sci-fi spectacle with personal stakes. We’ve seen in prior episodes that the series goes “full sci-fi spectacle” with Wormholes to Maque Space, Cosmo Gavarion GC-R Battle Form, and multiverse-level threats. “Gavans Assemble” uses that scale for a coordinated strike: each Gavan tackles cult activity in their home dimension while Reiji serves as the link between them. The emotional thread from Episode 20, Koto’s devastation over Kiki’s sacrifice, still hangs over the team as they fight.

Lead-in to Next Episode… episode 22 “Jo-Chaku”. While the other Gavans continue fighting Aza Zorth’s cult across the multiverse, they’re noted as being “forbidden from accessing their powers” in that next episode, hinting at consequences from this mass assembly. Meanwhile, Reiji confronts the “supreme chancellor of the Gavan System”, suggesting the multiverse team-up will force the Galaxy Federal Police to reckon with why there’s more than one Gavan.
